In December 2024, I visited the new Slussen transport hub in Stockholm. The construction work is already well advanced, as you can see in my pictures. I’m sure the spacious stairs at Munkebroleden will be very popular on warm summer evenings. You can sit here, have a picnic and gaze into the evening sun.
Until the construction work is completed, I recommend you take a look under the Golden Bridge. There is an excellent photo exhibition there documenting the years of construction work. When the project is completed, the exhibition will certainly disappear.
Slussen lies in central Stockholm at the confluence of Lake Mälaren and the Bay of Saltsjön (the bay is a part of the Baltic Sea).
In June 2023, a decision was taken on a revised timetable for the Slussen project. The new timetable means that the bus terminal will be completed in 2025, Mälarterrassen will open in 2026, and the entire transport hub in 2027.
Mälarterrassen will be the name of this new public building.
On the Golden Bridge
From the photo exhibition: This was the moment when the Golden Bridge arrived from China.
This photomontage shows what the area will look like once it is completed.
