Four essential tips for booking your flights to Sweden
- Check the airport location: Budget airlines often fly to Skavsta or Västerås. While prices are low, keep in mind they are about 80 – 100 minutes away from Stockholm city center.
- Book mid-week: Flights to Sweden are often significantly cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays compared to Friday afternoon or Sunday evening.
- Consider the train link: If you land at Arlanda (ARN), the Arlanda Express is the fastest way to the city (20 minutes), but the Flygbussarna coaches offer a cheaper alternative if you are not in a rush.
- Use Copenhagen (CPH) for the south: If your destination is Malmö or Southern Sweden, flying into Copenhagen Airport in Denmark is often the best choice. As Northern Europe’s premier hub, it offers the most international long-haul connections – and once you land, a frequent 20-minute train ride over the Öresund Bridge takes you directly into the heart of Malmö.
