Three tips for driving in Sweden
- Moose warnings are real: Be extra vigilant at dawn and dusk, especially in forested areas. If you see a moose warning sign, it is there for a reason – these animals are large and unpredictable.
- Lights on at all times: In Sweden, you must drive with your headlights on 24 hours a day, regardless of the weather or light conditions.
- Congestion taxes: Except during July, Stockholm and Gothenburg have congestion taxes. Most rental companies will automatically bill these to your credit card a few weeks after your trip, so don’t be surprised by a small subsequent charge.
