Today it was announced that funding has been granted for a three-year project that aims to develop the Lake Åsnen region. As part of this project a new Lake Åsnen National Park is planned. Its opening is scheduled for autumn 2017.
Lake Åsnen is located in southern Småland in the municipalities of Alvesta, Växjö and Tingsryd. It is the second largest lake in Småland, after Lake Bolmen.
Lake Åsnen is rich in fish. You will find a fish smokehouse in Urshult, “Åsnen Rökeriet”.
Tourist attractions by the lake are the works environment Huseby Bruk in the north and the gardens of Kurrebo in the south.
