Magical video from northern Sweden: Jonna Jinton – Kulning, the ancient Swedish herding call

I admit, I love Jonna’s video. And I’m not alone. So far her video has been watched two million times on YouTube – in just five months.

Jonna’s video is so simple and yet so carefully planned and arranged. Everything is perfect, the weather, the atmosphere, the lighting, the hairdo, the dress, the Golden ratio, and last but not least the singing and how the cows react to it.

Jonna: “In the middle of the bright summernight I went out to call for the cows. I thought that maybe something deep inside them remembers the sounds from the ancient times when people called for them over far distances. They came running, together with a million mosquitos 🙂 But what a magical night.”

Jonna lives in a little village in the municipality of Örnsköldsvik, which belongs to the province of Ångermanland. Her house is not far from Lapland, just 40 km. There is lots of magical, pristine nature here, with thick forests and smooth lakes – great subjects for Jonna’s fantastic landscape photos (you can even order them as photo walls for your home or office).
